Apparently religious schools are something of a problem in Britain. Richard Dawkins does a good job outlining why, in this video series. Here is part 1 of 4:
Dawkins rejects the idea that children are the property of parents, and that parents have the right to indoctrinate their children into any one belief system. I agree. Their minds are their own, and our responsibility is to provide them with critical thinking skills, not to fill their heads with nonsense. I especially find it disgusting when people marvel at childlike faith. Believing whatever crap somebody tells you is not a virtue! The reason we call it childlike faith is because that's how a child's mind works. When you tell them that the sun is rolled across the sky by a giant dung beetle, they literally believe it is true. This is one of the few things America does better than the UK. At least if parents want to force religion down the throats of their children they don't get help from the schools. Well, not the public schools.

While driving to my boyfriend's place for dinner tonight, I drove down a road I rarely take home anymore. While waiting at a light, I noticed that something looked funny about the stupid McDonalds billboard that had been up for the last few months.
The 17 Bottles Of project began with Urs and Sig and a bunch of other people in 1999. Unfortunately, the original, in a blue spiral notebook, has vanished. It was a fun project, though, so we're starting over. Hopefully this one will be a bit harder to misplace.
2011 UPDATE: Word on the streets is that the J.Mo. has located the notebook and has it in her possession. We'd love to see it some day...
